Monday’s Meal – Cool Days, Warm Chili
Good morning, and Happy Halloween!! As the weather gets colder, and the days get shorter, I’m starting to think of meals that will warm my family up, and what is one thing that most people love?? That’s right Chili! I don’t have my own special recipe yet, but while searching the net this morning I came across this one on Kraft Foods. I love their site, they have so many good recipe’s on their site, and I go to them all the time when I am in a rut and have no idea what to cook for my guys. This chili has a 5 star rating, total time 20 minutes, prep time 5 minutes, servings- 4 servings, about 1 cup each.
Here is what you need to make The Best Ever Chili.
BROWN meat with chili powder in large skillet on medium-high heat.
STIR in beans, tomatoes and salsa. Bring to boil. Cover; simmer on medium heat 10 min., stirring occasionally.
SERVE topped with cheese and sour cream.

Blueberry Muffins to Live For!
Missy here with a muffin recipe that is just delish!
You may or may not know that I had a baby last winter and am still nursing her. One food that is supposed to help keep your milk supply up- and is good for you any way- are whole oats. I am not a big fan of oatmeal for breakfast, and whole oats take longer than I have time for in the morning anyway! I love to play around in the kitchen and here is my recipe for Blueberry-Oatmeal-Streusel Muffins. I hope you like them as much as we do!
Blueberry Oatmeal Streusel Muffins

1 1/4 cups whole grain oats
1 cup all-purpose flour (you can sub out 1/2 cup whole wheat flour to make these a bit healthier)
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 tsp lemon extract (lemon zest works great too- I keep lemon extract on hand)
1/8 cup vegetable oil
1/8 cup applesauce (if you dont have applesauce you can use vegetable oil instead)
1 cup blueberries, rinsed and drained
Streussel Topping
Directions
1. Combine oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix in milk, egg, and oil; mix just until dry ingredients are moistened. Fold in blueberries. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full with batter.
2. Top with Streusel topping (press lightly to set)
2. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes (6 jumbo muffins) or 18-20 mins (12 standard muffins).
Streusel Topping
2 tbls softened butter
2 tbls Flour
4 tbls brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamonCombine all ingredients except butter. Cut in 2 tablespoons butter with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles course crumbs.

DIY Wooden Letters
Hi Shanna here. I wanted to share with you one of my favorite crafts I have made in the past a couple times. You see all these cute wooden letters hanging on kids bedroom walls and I wanted to make some to match my daughter’s bedding set a few years ago, so after a craft meeting at my mom’s group and being introduced to Mod Podge I thought wow I can do this with scrapbook paper so that I did. Off to the local craft store I went and picked up some scrapbook paper and Mod Podge and then made my daughter her letters for her wall.

(Sorry the image quality is bad since it was a cell phone pic, but you get the idea.)
So this weekend I had hosted a baby shower for my sister in law and decided to make my niece to be her very own set of letters using digital scrapping papers from Missy’s Bits (the papers shown here is a from a kit she hasn’t finished yet so be, but I’m sure she’ll get it finished to release soon).

So you ask how do you make these. They are super easy and anyone could make them. First you’ll want to buy some wooden letters from your craft store. I shop at Hobby Lobby and these letters run on sale almost all the time for 50% off so they are like $1.50 a letter. Then either buy some scrapbook paper or you can use printed digi-papers or even pictures. Then trace the the letter reversed on the backside of your paper and cut it out and Mod Podge. I found some great instructions on The Shabby Nest’s Blog if you need more instruction.
I hope this is a helpful craft you can do in your spare time and enjoy as much as I do.

Next up are witch leg cupcakes
