Happy Sunday Everyone! Christie here with your Sunday Sill Summer Fun post. Today we are going to have a race, a balloon noodle race. My boys had fun playing this game I made up for them. Since I have being trying to find something fun for them to do outside each week I had the supplies on hand and thought this would be a fun game to play.

Supplies:

  • balloons (regular party size)
  • pool noodles

Directions:

  • set up a starting line and a finish line (we used extra pool noodles)
  • blow up 1 balloon per racer
  • the player have to race from the starting line to the finish line without popping their balloon, if balloon pops they have to go back to the starting line and blow up another balloon and start over.
  • 1st one to the finish line without popping their balloon wins

Friday Finds

Hi there, Dawn here with this weeks Friday’s Finds. I love scrapbooking and preserving our families photos. This past November my Aunt gave me an early Christmas gift while I was visiting her. We had been scanning all the family photos, and she got me a Flip-Pal scanner. We all fell in love with this gadget. It alone scanned over 579 photos that weekend.  The Flip-Pal has no cords to deal with, just place batteries in, SD Card, and you are ready to scan anywhere. Reunions, Family Get togethers, and the cover comes off so you can scan larger photos and stitch them together using your computer. Here are some photos I scanned quickly for today’s post.

I chose 3 old photos that were of my parents and father’s mother back in 1974.

Scanning these are very simple, you open the grey lid place the photo on the glass and press the green button on the side.

This photo of my parents is tearing apart at the top.

In the little view area, you can see the image as it scans. After you are done, you remove the SD card and edit on your computer. Here is the final results.

Right now Flip-Pal is having a Black Friday sale, with each purchase of the Flip-Pal you get a free deluxe carrying case. As a scrapbooker and Genealogist this great. Below is their Black Friday Special,

Black Friday Special #1
Purchase a Flip-Pal mobile scanner and get a Deluxe Flip-Pal mobile scanner Carry Case with Pocket FREE!
(Please place both items in your shopping cart first before using the promotion code.)

Thursday Tidbit: Making a CD Envelope

Hello, again, all of you avid readers of www.scrappingartistry.com! This is Melissa T. bringing you the weekly Thursday Tidbit. This week we have a customizable hybrid freebie from www.mymemories.com in the form of a CD envelope. Now, I have had my hand at hybrids, and I must say that the new freebies from MyMemories are pretty clever. You can download the freebie directly into your MyMemories program, open the template, and customize the freebie with any papers or embellishments that you have in your collection. If you do not own the MyMemories Software, I highly recommend purchasing it. Look to the right of this post for a $10 coupon. For this template, I have used Sugar Moon’s Kit entitled “Smitten,” which can be found at her Divine Digital store.

"Smitten" by Sugar Moon Designs

So, without further delay, I will begin with the tutorial.

1. Download the template at http://www.mymemories.com/store/share_the_memories_kit_1 into your MyMemories Software.

2. Open the MyMemories Software and choose Create Album from Designer Template.

3. Find you project Labeled CD-Envelope-Summer1207-01 and select a title for your new project.

4. Select any page you choose to begin your project.

5. First, right-click on the white guide to lock it into place. You may then choose to alter the template (look under the Decorations heading for all of the downloaded papers, elements, and alphabet) or delete every object and start from scratch with papers, elements, and alphabets as you choose.

6. Save the template.

7. Click on the File tab and select a page to print on cardstock.

8. Gather all of the supplies you need to make the CD Envelope including scissors, ruler, and rubber cement.

9. Take the printed envelope and fold on all fold lines. There should be a total of 4 folds.

10. Cut along the outside edges using scissors.

11. Fold the 2 side flaps in towards the middle and apply glue along the side edges of the back piece. 12. Push the back piece up to adhere the sides and the back together. This will form your envelope.

13. Fill with a mini CD full of music or pictures, give to a friend, and watch their eyes light up with joy.  ( After making this project, I learned that the envelope is too small for a regular sized CD.)

Remember to make a memory today, and keep a camera on hand to capture it!

Quote Challenges

Hi, Happy Wednesday to everyone. Shanna here with your Wednesday challenge. This week I want to talk about Quote challenges. Many times I use a quote as an inspiration for a layout. They help me so much with the journaling and title of my layouts. This month at With Love Studio Missy’s Bits is hosting the Lovely Words Challenge. In this challenge she has chosen 3 quotes to inspire your layouts! Go over to With Love Studio today to participate in this great challenge and remember when you complete challenges at With Love you always get points to save up to earn gift certificates to the With Love Studio shop.

Here is Missy’s layout to help inspire you:

Remember throughout the next couple weeks With Love Studio has a great Christmas in July promotion going on. Be sure to check it out in the With Love Studio newsletter each day. Missy’s Bits and Sugar Moon Designs both have great pieces in this promotion.
