Getting on Schedule with Facebook
Hey Everyone! Its Missy with a fun Thursday tip for you. Today’s focus is on Facebook’s Pages feature (aka Fan or Like pages). If you admin or own a page, this is for you!
The most interesting thing about Facebook is that they are always changing. And, in some cases, those changes are wonderful! My new favorite tool is the ability to schedule posts right from your page. I’m not exactly sure when they snuck this nifty little feature in, but I am SO glad they did!
Now, I will say that I have long used this capability in HootSuite. And Hootsuite has some other really fun features that will keep it a “must-have” in my social media tool box. I will be back cover some of those another time! But for now, lets look at how we can schedule those posts right from your page in Facebook!
Navigate to your page. For our purposes, I will use my page for Missy’s Bits Designs. Go to your status box, and type a message:
After you type your message you can also insert photos, links etc. just like you normally would on your page. Then click the little clock icon circled in the image.
The scheduling dialog is pretty straightforward. You pick the year, month, day, hour and minute you want your post to appear on your page. It should look something like this when you are done:
When you hit schedule, your post disapears until it’s time for it to publish to your page. But, what if you need to edit or delete the post?
Thankfully, there is a way! Go to the top of your page and click on Edit Page and select the drop down box for Use Activity Log.
Now, you may edit the time your post appears or you may cancel they post and rewrite it. Maybe someday, Facebook will have an edit functionality for all of us with chronic mispellitus!
